Short Notes 2 – “How Much” money you should raise?

You are a saas or fintech , or ecommerce startup wants to raise money. This is great. Raising money is great. I wish I could raise money all the time. The question is, “How Much” money you should raise? £100K? £1M? £1B?! Ok, this part is tricky; I will explain further.

Remember, as the money you raise increases, the share you give to the investor increases. Since you are a startup in its first stage, you will probably sell a high level of share for a low level of raise. We wouldn’t do that. So what is the optimist way? It is to specify KPIs and raise the money you need to reach these KPIs before the next funding. Making profit, a specific revenue or customer target, or a positive cash flow. You name the KPI, do your financial estimation model and present it to your investor. I would finish saying, “and buy me a coffee in a hipster coffee shop”, but I can’t because of the Omicron. I hate you so much, Omicron.
